Re: Help with advancing ones guitar skills
<r>Hi Alan, thanks for writing to me. I can totally understand your frustration and don't worry, many people go through this type of situation. There are many facets to learning guitar, and playing music is usually the end result of practicing fundamentals. I have always had great success in teachin...

Re: >>New Target and Pay Per Lesson - Take Five - Jazz Standard Guitar Lesson

<t>Hey Shel, <br/> <br/> MJH's stuff is really good but can be intimidating if you try to tackle the whole thing at once. The trick is to get his picking pattern down first by tackling one or two measure and playing them slowly until you can get them up to speed. Then once the pattern is built into ...

<t>I totally love your suggestions Shel! As a teacher it would be awesome to get more questions about anything...musical ideas, technique, exercises, gear etc. I think the TG community is so strong and awesome that I feel inclined to offer any advice when I can, but sometimes its hard to know what a...

Re: Learning by ear
<t>I'm excited to see some enthusiasm in this area because it's truly a very important aspect in becoming a competent musician. There are a ton of ways to go about learning how to play by ear and improving your relative pitch abilities but here are a few:<br/> <br/> 1. Sit down with your guitar (or ...
