Thanks for the warm welcome everyone - was really happy to see the interest that thread generated and I look forward to having some new estrogen-infused tunes to learn soon :)

Re:More songs by female artists

One thing I've noticed about Tracy Chapman (or at least the 2 songs I can play: Fast Car and Revolution) is that they are VERY simple and VERY repetitive - it's her lyrics and vocals that really make the songs. But just try picking Fast Car and singing to it - I just can't do it!!

Once I get a few English songs down (I know quite a few now, but play none of them exceptionally) I'd like to try a few French ones. But since singing and playing ...

I played classical guitar as a child (9-13) but then became "too cool" - an immature decision which I will always regret (but at least I can finger pick and read music). After that I barely touched a guitar until recen...

Re:More songs by female artists

<r>Yes, Joni Mitchell is definitely one of the best female acoustic artists out there - although I'll admit I'm totally intimidated by alternate tuning... <EMOJI seq="1f60a" tseq="1f60a"></EMOJI> <br/> <br/> I also tried an internet version I found of Janis Joplin's 'Me & Bobby McGee" (gr...

More songs by female artists

<t>Hi,<br/> <br/> It would be great to see a few more songs by female artists for the women in the programme, maybe some more Sheryl Crow, Tracy Chapman, Amy MacDonald, Alanis Morrissette, Melissa Etheridge (Come to My Window) and Eva Cassidy does a beautiful version of Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Ti...
