Lead Secrets - Triads

<t>I've literally "come in from the outdoors" now that we are getting into the winter season here in Texas. Boy have I got something really fun to do now! This lesson is quite an eye opener. I've always been inspired and I've had the equipment for several years now, but I just did not know how to ge...

Re: If you could have written any song in history...

<t>"Imagine" would also be my choice but mostly for the words. The tune I would have loved to have written is "Going to California" by Led Zepp or "Never Gong Back Again" by Lindsey Buckingham. Those two songs make me seriously happy within two or three notes. They take me somewhere profoundly good....

Re:Never Going Back Again

<t>I wanted to make another comment about this subject of lead riff and what fret to capo on. I have been feeling like you had to capo on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th frets to be able to have enough room to play the lead and get in all the notes. However, now that I know the lead well enough to improvise an...

Re:Never Going Back Again

<t>Morten,<br/> Now that I compare, his lead is very similar to the one you play capo'd on the 4th fret.<br/> I think you can get all the notes in and still capo yours on the 5th fret if you wanted to. That gets it a little closer to Neil's version so that it still has a "mandolin sound". Sorry to b...

Re:Never Going Back Again

<r>Hey Morten,<br/> Sorry I've been sidetracked for several days.<br/> Here is the link: <URL url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kld_JR-49Uc">www.youtube.com/watch?v=kld_JR-49Uc</URL> <br/> The melody this guy plays needs some serious work but again it's his lead part that interests me. You might a...

Re:Never Going Back Again

<t>Morten,<br/> Ok I think I found what works for me. There is a guy on youtube that plays a lead that sounds very good. He places a cappo on the 5th fret and still gets all the low notes you are so right about. His melody is weak at best so I am only using his lead with everything Neil has taught u...

Re:Never Going Back Again

<t>Morten,<br/> I worked on it for a few days but the barre reqiured on the sixth fret of the first 4 strings made the song too dificult for me to play (without a lot of work). I could not silence all four strings and play the tune at the same time. Some strings would "thud out". Don't you think in ...

Re:Never Going Back Again

<t>Morten,<br/> Wow, Well that was pretty cool! OK That makes sense. You don't have to tune the 5th string to "A" because you are now down two frets(one whole note) and you tune the 6th string to "D" instead of "C" for the same reason. So, strings 1-4 have to be barred to keep those strings like Nei...

Re:Never Going Back Again

I'll try that. The little lead that Lindsey breaks off into now, was that pretty easy to figure out? I need to tackle that soon.

Re: Morten play never goining back again

<t>Great job. Really. I've been working on that song for two months every day and I can't play it that fast. I'm determined to get it down. If I could play it like you I'd say I had it. Maybe you should be the one giving out tips on how to increase your speed. It's a tough one. Congratulations!<br/>...
