Re: Collaboration: Knockin' on Heaven's Door - performed by Kevin and Michele

Wow! That is just awesome. Great job, Kevin and Michele. Nice video, too. Although I'm a big Dylan fan, I've shied away from this one, for some of the reasons Vanessa mentions. But your laying of vocals, guitars, and bass really makes this compelling.

<r>Okay, I can see it's going to take a little bit more work to get your groove going. So I'll jump in first. This is just a quick take of what the bass might sound like:<br/> <br/> <YOUTUBE id="gZ8IGFzgFgw"><URL url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ8IGFzgFgw">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ8IG...

Re: Motown collaboration thread

<t>Thanks great, Jeff. I'm adding a chord chart with and starting a list of contributors to the original post. I'll post a backing track shortly. What you would need to do is choose your part, record yourself while listening to the backing track on headphones, and send me a link to your video.<br/> ...

<t>Whether you join the program or not, I would strongly recommend that as a next step you work on learning some songs you love. This is a great resource for that approach to learning. Not only because of the vast library of lessons, but also because of the opportunity to get incredibly constructive...

<r>Old timers will remember how this sort of large scale open collaboration works, but for the youngsters (and just because it's fun to dig up old stuff from the early days), here's the model:<br/> <br/> <URL url="http://www.totallyguitars.com/forum/4-general-acoustic-guitar-discussion-/29814-ldcs-d...

Motown collaboration thread

<r>No one can resist the groove of classic R&B. But getting that full Detroit sound from just one acoustic guitar can be a challenge. These days, I'm spending most of my time with my bass and have been revisiting a lot of the Motown tunes from my childhood. But the bass is a lonely instrument an...

Re: Busking Gordon Lightfoot - Early Morning Rain

Thanks, Bill. I have a couple of Rode large condenser mics that I have shockmounted and run through Sonar. I initially got them to work on some mid-side stereo recording techniques. But it's been a while since I was motivated to go through that whole workflow. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Busking Gordon Lightfoot - Early Morning Rain

<t>Hey Bill! That was fantastic. You really captured the wistful atmosphere of this song. I'm also not a great fan of the PPM version as it often seems to me that they were just cranking it out. But you made this come alive.<br/> <br/> What arrangement do you have for recording your voice. I'm just ...
