Re: Pickup Thoughts?
<r>Neil-<br/> <br/> A couple of years ago I attended a very small concert at a local music shop featuring Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumpel. These two musicians are two of my all-time favorites. For me, their sound is magic.<br/> <br/> At the break, outside in the parking lot, I commented to Eric on th...

Doug Young
<t>Fellow TGers!<br/> <br/> I can't tell you how excited I am personally to have Doug Young now doing lessons on Totally Guitars. Doug is pure class. A wonderful teacher; kind and patient to a fault and just a terrific guitarist. I could listen to him for hours.<br/> <br/> I love alternate tunings (...

Re: Acoustic or electric? What's your prerogative?
<t>Max- as much as I love playing an electric my heart is with high-quality acoustics. There's something about the sound produced by different tonewoods and bracing.<br/> <br/> I have three acoustics (Taylor 816LTD, Taylor 855 12-string and a custom built Larrivee L-10). I had a Les Paul Studio that...

Re: Peter White and On The Border
What a great couple of videos. The Peter White video particularly. How many times in music have we heard "More is less"? Peter proved this point.
It is particularly impressive that Peter, as a keyboard player, can so easily swing into Spanish guitar player. That takes some chops!!

Re: R Mctell
<t>Ralph's best song is still the traditional English ballad "Girl from the Hiring Fair" from 1986 which I tried to play at IGC 2 with only modest success. Of course, Streets of London remains his greatest hit but I love the melody (and lyrics) of Hiring Fair. Ralph McTell is a very under-rated musi...

I only browsed a few of the videos but this is GREAT stuff!! I could spend weeks, months or years going through this. Perhaps the single most valuable lessons TG has ever posted.

<t>Nicely done Mike! I'm sitting here on my laptop with the flu also, too tired to go to sleep. So I'm catching up on videos I just haven't had time to watch.<br/> <br/> Three Dog Night had some great tunes but Eli's Coming was my favorite. You heard that organ bass note and instantly knew what song...
