Re:Missing right index finger
d_dog, Thanks. I am going to give it a try. I do think that it is interesting that strumming, intuitively, seems as if it should be easy but I have had trouble getting comfortable. My lesson is that nothing about the guitar is easy. Thanks again.

Re:Missing right index finger
<t>Wow. This is an incredible site. Here I am in the middle of nowhere, Amarillo, Texas, and I have gotten fabulous tips from all over in the space of a few hours. Before this, I was huddled up in my house reading method books and how to books with nothing but frustration. This is going to be fun.<b...

Re:Missing right index finger
All, I really like the invisible pick idea. I think that I
can visualize what you are describing. I have already gotten my
money's worth from this site. The rest is gravy.
Thanks. David

Re:Missing right index finger
<t>Tovo, you have hit the nail on the head so to speak. The question
is a result of Neil's lesson in which the downstroke is with the
nails of the fingers and the upstroke is with the pad of the
1st finger. After messing with it for a while, I was not able to
get comfortable usin...

<t>Bill,

Thanks. I bought a low end Seagull which I really like. I also
travel quite a bit so I have bought a couple $300 Yamaha's that
I have stashed at my travel locations. Finally, I bought a baby
Taylor for the times I travel to locations where I do not have a
guit...

Re:Missing right index finger
<t>Bob. Thanks. I am with you that I think that I can
get comfortable finger picking with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th
fingers. I am trying to figure out if it is worth the
effort to learn to strum with fingers instead of a pick.
I prefer using fingers to strum but I haven't come up wit...

Missing right index finger
<t>Hey. Great site.

I am a newbie. Bought my first guitar one year ago and have been
rambling around to learn on my own. I found this site and
it really seems to fit. I have started with the beginner lessons
and I enjoy the style and level of the teachings.

I hav...

<t>Fall 2008, the second of three children packed up and left
for college. I am 47 and begin to realize that life is
changing. What to do? After much deliberation, I told my
wife that I have decided on some options and she can help with
the final decision. I wanted to pursue one ...
