Re: lessons on how to improvise a solo

each video is about 30 minutes. As I recall, Neil get's into "the meaty stuff" for this topic at about 20 minutes in on the first video which continues into the first 15 minutes or so of the second.

Re: lessons on how to improvise a solo

<t>You are absolutely correct - there is some great tips in those 2 vids. I would LOVE a lesson where Neil culls out some of the pearls of wisdom he dispensed into a 5 or 10 minute video on beginner applications of pentatonic scales for lead play. I LOVE Neil - and I love music theory - but Ron was ...

Re: lessons on how to improvise a solo

<t>Thanks! The Lead Secrets set of vids look promising. There's a lot there so it may take me a while to get through and digest - but I've started and I'm excited. Neil is a GREAT teacher so I'm looking forward to trying to digest and assimilate the material.<br/> There is a ton of amazing material ...

lessons on how to improvise a solo

<t>I assume there are videos on TG that address learning how to improvise a solo - I tried searching but I don't know how to find them. I want to learn how to solo to some standard, simple (I,IV,V) rock songs - I'd like to have some hints of melody in my solo so it wasn't just a free form solo using...

Happy days.

<t>I'm very pleased to be here. I've had a guitar for nearly 10 years and keep starting and stopping and started again about 6 weeks ago after finding a good teacher. I want to learn some songs, so here I am, and there's a great range here.<br/> <br/> I can already play Horizons, or I thought I coul...

Re: accurate tabs

<t>By acccurate, I mean what Neil is playing on his instructional video - he is playing and teaching one structured version of a song -he doesn't generally do an extended jam. When I am trying to learn to play guitar by emulating what he is doing, I'd like a "roadmap" that accurately reflects what h...

accurate tabs

<t>I've been a subscriber for a few years now. In general, I love the site, love Neil, love the lessons, etc. I have had a recurrent frustration with many lessons when the tabs don't reflect what Neil is doing on the video. The videos can at times be hard to see or hear exactly what he is doing - an...

Re: Up and down strumming motion

<t>I don't think I am explaining myself well enough - I don't have a problem with finding the rhythm of a song, or keeping the rhythm. The problem is that Neil advises us to keep our strumming hand constantly moving up and down - so, in a measure with all 1/8 notes you are contacting the strings eve...

Up and down strumming motion

<t>In many of Neil's videos he tells us to keep our strumming hand moving up and down constantly. I know I don't do this - I will stop my hand when the strum pattern allows. When I try to concentrate on keeping my hand moving I feel like I am trying to rub my stomach while patting my head. I have sea...

Re: Embryonic Journey tab questions

<t>Thanks - and some followup:<br/> <br/> So then there is not a constant alternating thumb base 6 4 6 4 going on - measure 2 beat 2 the open 6th string is played but the following second part of the alternating base is not - it is hammered on without striking and then the 3rd string is played - I g...
