Re: Maybe I'll Call This "Microtuning"

Hey Wrench, This is one of the most interesting posts I have ever seen here and I want to start with thanking you for the deep geek research. I am sorry it has taken so long to reply and plan to add more later. The quick thought is we have adapted to everything being close to in tune is good enough,...

https://youtu.be/MxbxbUog1NA June 13, 2025 Welcome to the Hogan Ohana Aloha Trip. Nani and I planned a trip for the whole family to Hawaii, which is why there was no update last week (17-hour delay on the first flight). We spent a few days on the North Shore of Oahu then to Waikoloa on the Big Islan...

On The Beat - Episode 808 - Weekly Guitar Video News Wrap Up May 30, 2025

https://youtu.be/YHxhlrHkBLo May 30, 2025 Continuing with my Dropped D adventures, I went through some of what was mentioned last week ( Ladye Nothinge , and Embryonic Journey ) and added some John Denver and John Fahey to the mix. The lesson that triggered this was, of course Bert Jansch's Black Wa...

Thanks for the suggestions, we have definitely overlooked Firefall and will get on rectifying that issue.

Bert Jansch - Black Waterside

After many years of neglecting (avoiding?) this classic tune as done by Bert Jansch, it has finally been completed as accurately as I have done anything. Take a look at Black Waterside , which is done in Dropped D Tuning. https://youtu.be/zraZdyUVMAc Black Waterside is a traditional ballad made famo...

Re: A little Easier?

Thanks for the reminder Dan!

Great suggestions, and I remember messing with Take Me Home, Country Roads a while back as well. The bad news is that the two under construction are in the more difficult category but I will dig back into some of the ones you mentioned. in the near future.

Re: chord notation

Hi Bob, Great timing with this comment. I addressed it a bit in the latest TG News . In a nutshell I believe you have a much better chance of learning the progression when seeing it in a box-like chart, and understanding the function of each chord (I-vi-ii-V for example). Once you have that you shou...

On The Beat - Episode 807 - Weekly Guitar Video News Wrap Up May 23, 2025

https://youtu.be/yC9qFlcgVvM May 23, 2025 I have had Dropped-D Tuning on my radar lately, mostly due to an upcoming lesson that I talk about near the end of today's Update, and I play some of Ladye Nothinge's Toye Puffe by John Renbourn and Jorma Kaukonen's Embryonic Journey . At the start though, I...
