On The Beat - Episode 639 - Weekly Guitar Video News Wrap Up January 14, 2022

https://youtu.be/EPOVRe1agig January 14, 2022 I had a lot of fun with this week’s new lessons. Song For Juli is one that has intrigued me for almost 50 years since I first got Jesse Colin Young’s album by that name. It definitely got into heavy rotation on my turntable back then. I may have to do a ...

Song For Juli - Jesse Colin Young

Wrapping up a loose end I left dangling a few years ago, we now have a lesson on Jesse Colin Young's Song For Juli . The lesson just goes over the guitar instrumental introduction, even though Jesse sings a verse at the end. https://youtu.be/tEtvTFFgiTk Aside from a career with The Youngbloods, Jess...

Eva Cassidy - San Francisco Bay Blues

A recent lesson request sent me back down the Eva Cassidy path.I was not familiar with her take on Jesse Fuller's classic San Francisco Bay Blues , and at first listen wasn't sure it was the same song. Sure enough, she completely rewrote the music and really made it her own. https://youtu.be/qT4OPt9...

Hi Jay,

Nice to hear from you and I'm glad you're thinking of working on The Fisherman. I am definitely planning on more instrumentals soon, possibly including Black Orpheus.

And Matt and I are always looking for requests and possible directions so any suggestions are definitely appreciated.

Re: Hi, I am Robert

Hi Robert,

Welcome to TG and I am glad to hear you have enjoyed some lessons. I am not sure what else you have looked at but the lesson on The Star Of The County Down does something similar to Coventry Carol, as I recall.

Re: Ode to Billy Joe

Thanks for the message and welcome to TG. I generally do not put chords over words in lessons for a few reasons, which I may elaborate on tomorrow on the Weekly Update.
