Re: >> Newest Target members only lesson - Fly On The Wall - Time Signatures & Beat Divisions with Kevin
<t>great lesson!. i have trouble identifying non-standard times by ear, particularly 6/4 and 6/8; i can hear the triple-beat foundation, but i also tend to hear an underlying 4-beat drive (albeit much slower), particularly in blues. the other night i was listening to one song that i could easily tap...

<t>nice lesson, and too bad about the flames on the prior FOTW...ignore the naysayers, fred. <br/> <br/> back to a question alluded by fred....how does the Cmaj (+/- the 7th) fall into that key (relative key of A)? why does that work? not only should it be C#, but it should be minor?<br/> <br/> so a...

Re: >>New Target and Pay Per Lesson release - One Way Sunday - The Mark-Almond Band
<t>i posted yesterday as well on the lesson itself...thanks for including Mark-Almond, another classic early 70s group that i think you really had to be into FM to know about. always liked the jazzy sound of The City, tho (by my recollection--it's been over 40yrs) the sparse arrangements of their al...

<t>love olomana...sea bird, the lion, me ke aloha ku'u home o kahalu'u, etc...always catch jerry and wally at hilton hawaiian village, or jerry alone at chai's when i'm in the islands, tho that's not quite like the good ol' days when robert was around and that style of local music was something new....

Re: Rambling Open G
<t>beyond neil's lesson package of instrumentals in open g...<br/> <br/> water song is a great one to play...not too difficult but sounds pretty impressive and is fun. i see that neil played it on the santa clara guest professor video. <br/> <br/> chet atkins' "spanish fandango" is in open G, i beli...

monster fingerpickers
hi neil
i wonder if, in your fingerpickin' travels, you ever ran across thom bresh (merle's son) or buster b (brad) jones and their pyrotechnics? ever thought of posting some classic travis (eg, blue smoke) or atkins (eg cascade)? or even jones' "skippy"?

Re: >>New Target and Pay Per Lesson release - Sweet Betsy From Pike - Cowboy Songs
nice lesson on a simple song, but colored up with the chord substitutions: leads to the question why the secondary dominant is B7, not Bm7, since 2 is minor in the scale?

<t>neil, you rock with premiata forneria marconi (i used to listen to scot muni and alison steele, the nightbird, on wnew in college, when fm was REALLY fm and progrock ruled. they had a great playlist, and annie haslam was a staple). great website that i've only recently discovered. gotta tell ya, ...
