Its not (or shouldnt) be about cost either. Ive played cheapo acoustics and electrics for under £100 that shouted BUY ME, as well as pricey guitars that said LEAVE HERE. RUN!

Just get the right capo. Shubb do a C1 Original capo for electric and acoustic steel string guitars that works a treat.

Ive never been able to do that thumb wrap thing. Its much easier (to me anyway) to play the bass notes with 3rd or 4th finger.

Im a 20+ year six string guitar player and I must admit I always though bass looked pretty easy. A couple of goes soon dispelled that myth. Its a different kind of vibe to normal guitar and demands more insight into rhythm and driving the beat of a song or band. Good fun though.
