Re:Strings

Thanks for the Rolling Stone reference Gingold. It does kind of sound like a 12 string without the full bodied sound.
I have a Tele that is destined to have a set installed to try them out.

Re:Cole Clark Guitars what do you think??

<r>Micke, I doubt you will ever regret buying a Cole Clark. They make world class guitars.<br/> Though I don't currently own one, I have in the past.<br/> Very comparable to Matons, and I believe Martins too. <br/> Why don't I still play a CC? Because Maton produce left handed guitars in every model...

Re:a great sounding guitar

<t>Cedar guitars are without question, the most mellow sounding of all timbers. They are not for the careless however, as cedar does not stand up to bumps. The timber scratches and dings so easily. <br/> To answer that part of the question about changing strings to obtain a mellow sound. <br/> The a...

Re:Are you stuck like me?

<t>Inclined to agree with Quincey.<br/> Distraction and one more thing, boredom. <br/> The notion that you know how to play the piece, so there is no point learning it right through often presents itself.<br/> Not everyone can be in, or even wants to be in a band, but there is noting like that type ...

<t>Whilst browsing the GHS site I happened to stumble upon sets of strings where the EADG were a much narrower gauge and were tuned an octave higher.<br/> [E.020] [A.015] [D.011] [G.009] [B.015] [E.011] <br/> bright Bronze for Nashville Tuning.<br/> Perhaps they are not new, but certainly are new fo...

<t>As I understand it Eucalyptus oil will remove sticker residue.<br/> Before you rub it into the finish, do a test on a place on your guitar that will not normally be noticed and use only the tiniest amount.<br/> If it goes wrinkly or white or discolours in any way, don't go any further with eucaly...

Re:Finger Stretching

<t>Using screw cap lids between fingers is what I am referring to.<br/> As far as kids go, growing bones shouldn't be forced.<br/> As far as guitar technique is concerned, if your fingers are too small and you are a still growing, develop a technique ( of playing) that gets around it, or use a 3/4 s...

Re:New electric guitar

New is always good when it comes to guitars, but $800 must just about reasonably get both an acoustic and an electric guitar from the second hand market place.

Re:Reading Music

<t>Learning guitar should be taken on in increments.<br/> No need to rush out and take formal lessons right from the start. Get someone better at playing than you are to show you a few things, then when you know your way around the guitar and know a few chords, then sign up for lessons. <br/> I pers...
