Re:Jay - Twolumne

<t>I watched the TG live episode from Sept 12th and noted Mr. Hogan's early comment regarding wrapping of the thumb around the top of the neck. He implied that in rare circumstances, it's OK. I suspect I'd be better off long term in avoiding that move whenever possible. I was watching the Landslide ...

Re:Jay's Dust in the Wind

<t>Thanks for all the comments. I'll keep slugging away. Slower tempo, better hand position, better guitar position. All need some work. I'm amazed how much one can learn from watching himself or herself on video. I recommend it for all beginners, and come to think of it, I suspect intermediate and ...

Re:Jay's Dust in the Wind

The guitar in this vid is a Yamaha DW-8, which I gather is an entry level Yamaha. My brother gave it to me a number of years ago. I have several other mid-level guitars, and I must say I prefer this one to all of them.

Re:

Wow. Unbelievable rendition of that song. Loved it. If that song is in the Target Program, it's my next project.

Re:Jay - Twolumne

Another fun and fairly easy song to play from that album is "Guaranteed". Being able to sing it is a bonus which I have been unable to enjoy.

Re:Are we kidding ourselves?

I share your frustration as I, too, take forever and a day to learn a new song. I guess I would say that the point in persevering despite a lack of natural talent is 1) it gets easier with each new song and 2) it's simply so enjoyable once you "get it". That's my 2 cents, anyway.

Re:House Of The Rising Sun

Very smooth. I'm not in a position to give advice, but I learned from your video the utility of the metronone and playing more smoothly. Please post more when you can.

Jay - Blackbird (last one, I promise)

<r>I have been working on this for a couple of months. As I watch the video, I see yet again that I need to slow done quite alot. Not sure why I can't make that concept stick. I can't seem to make my version seem as crisp as others I've seen on youtube, especially Neil's version. A ridiculous compar...

Jay - Twolumne

<r>Here's another video that I submit for review. It's an instrumental piece, I believe written by Eddie Vedder, but certainly played by him for the "Into the Wild" sountrack. It's short and not too difficult for beginners striving for intermediate status. <br/> <br/> <YOUTUBE id="8arbl0AzAWA"><URL ...

Jay's Dust in the Wind

Just the intro, 1 verse, and the outtro. A couple of off notes, but otherwise a reasonable effort.
