Re:Largest Crowd

<t>In high school, my band played at a festival that our guitarist's mom was running, and I think there was more than 200 people there. We got asked to play a bunch more gigs and got a bunch of cards of "talent scouts", but we didn't follow up on any of them because they were all creepy and seemed p...

Re:What Made You Start Playing Guitar?

<t>My parents started me on piano when I was 3, and then when I was 13 I made the horrendous, life changing decision to play rock and roll on the bass. Had I not made that decision, and continued in the direction I was going, having already learned jazz standards and ragtime, I'd probably consider t...

Re:How about... LEAST favorite bands?

<t>Pop artists don't count! How about bands with talented musicians that make music that you can't stand.<br/> <br/> "The Boss" is a pop artist, regardless of what his overdriven butterscotch telecaster says. <br/> <br/> Let's bash people that can actually play their instruments! It's way more fun t...

Re:Beatles

Neil, you should just do every Beatles song. That way, every one might be close to being satisfied.

Personally I'd like to see "Taxman" including the bad ass lead, and you jamming with a bassist on that groovy bass line. Or you playing both at the same time...

Anchoring

<t>Hey Neil,<br/> <br/> I'm having an issue with anchoring while I'm playing leads. Is there any way to get over this without an intense amount of practice? It doesn't seem to hinder my abilities, but I'm sure that you could give me an example of it doing so further down the road. Oh yeah, I'm looki...

Re:How about... LEAST favorite bands?

Yeah, despite my love for the Paul and the Marshall sound separately, that rig has been used and abused too many times for me to take seriously. I can be executed correctly, but the 70's/80's kinda killed it for me. Thank god for Spinal Tap.

Re:Best Guitar for an Intermediate Guitar player

<t>I've had some luck with Blueridge guitars, pretty much everything they make is under a grand. I liked the Trinity College model, and the BR-43 model. Check 'em out, they're definitely worth a shot, but it may be a problem finding a dealer in your area, cause I think they're out of south SF. <br/>...

How about... LEAST favorite bands?

<t>As far as least favorite bands, I mean bands that are talented, but for some reason rub you the wrong way.<br/> <br/> My vote goes to Radiohead and The Mars Volta. They're both extremely talented, but for some reason they just don't do anything for me, except hope that I don't wind up in a car wi...

Re:It Might Get Loud

If my memory serves me correctly, it's out on August 14th.

Jack White gets such fantastic tone out of that white penguin and the thousands of stompboxes he uses.
