Hi Dennis,
Yes, several attendees arrived a day or even more prior to camp. As for bringing your wife, the more the merrier I'd say!

(on the official site there is some info on day passes for guests/spouses i think)
Last year, Jeff (JCrocket) and Andy (Benfield) brought their spouses. So maybe they can chime in on this, but I'm pretty sure they had a really great time!!

Dennis:
I know of a few that flew in a day early for sure. I drove up and picked up Rick (BigBear). We drove in together the next morning. Last year the first day started around 2pm or so. You could fly in that morning, or the day before (or sooner if you want to wander around the Bay Area). The last day (Sunday) ended about noon or so. Some of us stayed around for a concert that night, but check out at the Quaker center was about noon. You could fly out that night, or the next day. It is a fairly easy drive from the San Jose Airport. One of the guys flew in and then got a room in Santa Cruz, which is very close as well. It is right on the beach and you could lounge around there a bit too.
As you start to check on arrangements, feel free to ask questions in the forum. Neil and the gang were great about answering the questions. Plus there are a bunch of us with a year under our belts now. There seemed to be enough people willing to ride share. I drove a Suburban up last year, and I will probably do that again. If I can help anyone out, I will do what I can.
Like Ness said, Jeff and Andy brought their wives and it worked out fine. They came to the open mic night and went to the concerts and got to know the other folks too.

Ness and Jason,
Thanks for you replies they help a lot. Coming from the east coast it might me easier to fly in Wednesday morning and fly out Monday morning but Doreen doesn't have a lot of time off so we will see.....
If I have anymore question I will let everyone know.....
Thanks again......

Dennis -
Yep, my wife Laura was with me at camp last year (we did the IGC as part of a longer N. California vacation), and she had a blast. She had a great time at the the open mic and the concert, while during the daytime sessions, she went exploring the area sights - as a photography buff, this was perfect for her. Neither of us had ever seen a redwood before last year's trip, and we found the scenery in the Santa Cruz mountains to be nothing short of amazing.
We're going to do it a little differently this year - I'm flying out on Wednesday for camp, she will be coming out and meeting me on Sunday, and we'll be doing shorter vacation afterward - we can't wait!
Looking forward to meeting you!
Jeff

Hi Dennis,
Yes, Wendy and I came along last year as part of a longer trip from the UK. Though she doesn't play guitar, she came to all the concerts and open mike etc and really enjoyed them and was made to feel most welcome. We came out a day or two early too and it worked out well.
Cheers
Andy.

Jason, Jeff and Andy thanks for your insight, I'm looking to see if we can make it happen for Doreen also, She doesn't get a lot of vacation time from work so it might be tough but I think she would enjoy it if she goes......

Presumably one would fly into San Jose?
How would we get from San Jose to the camp and from camp to San Jose? Do they have any transportation does anyone know?

You can fly into San Jose or into San Francisco. If you fly into San Francisco, you might check with some of the other guys doing the same, and try to work out some car pool ideas. If you are going into San Jose, you can do the same. If, in fact, you do choose San Jose, let me know your arrival and departure times. I am planning on picking up Rick (Big Bear) on Tuesday and then dropping him back off on Sunday. I live down in Southern California, and it is not very far out of my way to go by the airport on the way home. I should be driving my Suburban again, so there is room for about 5 people. It really fits about 7, but by the time we pack luggage and guitars, it gets a bit tight..

Thanks, Jason.
I think I will just sign up, find a flight and THEN figure it out.
