TG started our International Guitar Camp in 2013 and now are hosting two each year, our Spring Camp at the end of April and our Fall Camp in early September.

Since around 20 of us have committed to the camp and we have nearly 6 months to go, I was thinking it would be fun if we all learned a song or two in common. Then we could have the monster jam to beat all monster jams. We could pick a relatively easy song that is available to learn through TG and all learn it. Of course, getting 20+ people to agree on one or two songs will be fun in itself. What do you think?

Bill,

This is a great idea, and even came up as a suggestion last year. I have been thinking about suggesting some but it would be better if everybody offered suggestions here and I will monitor and weigh in as well. I think there are some obvious starting points with artists like Neil Young, Eagles, CCR, Jimmy Buffett, Beatles, etc.

Let the discussion begin!

Neil

How about a Nachmanoff original? Like "Fragile Thing"? We KNOW we have a couple who could take the lead part, now do we not?

I have a lot of suggestions for just such a group. I will only leave one suggestion at this time simply because there will be numerous songs given.

Wagon Wheel.

I would pick this song for several reason:
A) It is only 4 chords
B) It is easy to play
C) It is very popular and fun to play and sing
D) Neil already has a leason on TG

Great idea, Bill!

I would suggest that we keep a running list, so that we don't have to read back through all the posts and maybe miss something. When someone adds a song they can just copy the list and add their own. Recalling the exuberance of the late night Guitar Scrums of last year, I would recommend El Nino by Dave Nachmanoff.

1. Wagon Wheel (Old Crow Medicine Show)
2. Fragile Thing (Dave Nachmanoff)
3. Horse With No Name (America)
4. El Nino (Dave Nachmanoff)

Cheers,
Lynn

Neil made the suggestion of Comfortably Numb on his weekly round up and since he is traveling I figured I would post it for him. So here is our list so far. Please feel free to add others.

1. Wagon Wheel (Old Crow Medicine Show)
2. Fragile Thing (Dave Nachmanoff)
3. Horse With No Name (America)
4. El Nino (Dave Nachmanoff)
5.Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)

Heart of Gold is a must learn song, in my opinion, for all guitarists of all abilities. I'm sure one of the IGC attendees can bring his/her harmonica.

Just because I have to include Jerry Garcia in everything I do, I will nominate Uncle John's Band-available on TG. So that leaves us with this list.

1. Wagon Wheel (Old Crow Medicine Show)
2. Fragile Thing (Dave Nachmanoff)
3. Horse With No Name (America)
4. El Nino (Dave Nachmanoff)
5.Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
6. Heart of Gold (Neil Young)
7. Uncle John's Band (Grateful Dead)

Any more nominations or should we move to narrow down the list?
