I am flying to SFO on Sunday morning from Canada. Neil mentioned that he is hosting a bbq that evening. I was looking for a hotel nearby for Sunday night. Any advice?

The Bristol Hotel is very close, and it proved to be quite nice last year. Plus it is right across the street from a very nice guitar store.

I think a few of us already have rooms there as well.

Hey everyone--

I'm getting serious about packing/gear/etc., as I am sure everyone else is, but I remember Neil last year mentioning something about forgotten guitar stands, among other things. Is having a guitar stand necessary because I don't think I'm going to be able to fit one in a carry on bag.

Also, beside the guitar travel case, someone also mentioned needing a soft bag for camp. I have one, but again I only want to take what's necessary.

Just what are the essentials besides a guitar, picks, extra strings, capo and the usual?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Wiley,

You wrote "Most of us leave our axes sitting at the main area . . . ". Unless you are thinking about chopping up the guitars, did you mean "cases"? Just want to be sure. So leaving a hard case some place is ok and we can rest the guitars there?

Jean - axe is just another term for guitar. I presume it has rock origins. :) or perhaps it's a chops reference. :)
