Whatever (Folk Song in C), By: Elliott Smith

If you know of a song that you think would make a good lesson, here is the place to bring it up. As of May, 2015 we have over 800 song lessons but are always on the lookout for more. Be sure to point out what about the song makes it a good candidate, unique or unusual, a particular part that interests you, or just that you think a bunch of members would enjoy it. An embedded video would be helpful as well.

Hey Neil,

I was somewhat surprised to find that you have yet to do any song lessons by Elliott Smith! I think there would be a lot of value in taking a look at Whatever (Folk Song in C).

Elliott Smith's songs tend to be very difficult. He was really good at carrying melodies over complex chord arrangements (in my opinion). "Whatever" seems like a great starting point for someone looking to learn his music.

There are a few other Elliott Smith songs that you might find interesting.

Clementine
Angeles
Condor Ave (I've always been desperate to learn this one)
Somebody That I Used to Know

Okay, that's all for now. Thanks for your wonderful lessons!
