Chris Rea and Mark Almond

If you know of a song that you think would make a good lesson, here is the place to bring it up. As of May, 2015 we have over 800 song lessons but are always on the lookout for more. Be sure to point out what about the song makes it a good candidate, unique or unusual, a particular part that interests you, or just that you think a bunch of members would enjoy it. An embedded video would be helpful as well.

During a 50 year band reunion in St. Louis, a friend suggested I might like to learn some songs by Mark Almond. Not being familiar with him, I listened to some recordings and his music was mysterious and sometimes melancholy. I thought he fit somewhere between Dan Fogelberg and Chris Rea.. So I listened to some old favorites from Chris Rea on the way back from St. Louis and wondered why TG has no Chris Rea songs in its catalogue.. They are intermediate and full of cool tasty guitar licks! Lookin for the Summer, Fool and On the. Beech are a few of my favorites. He also has a very popular Christmas song, I’ll be driving home for Christmas, that would be nice to learn. His voice is to die for and he started learning guitar at 22 YOA, so songs are very doable. Adding some Mark Almond would also be nice but the arrangements are quite complex.
