I go thru phases where I really love the big jangly sound of the 12 string. I have a company jam coming up with too many 6 string guitar players so I thought I'd take my 12 instead.
Some songs, like Hotel California have a dedicated 12 string part. I've had some success with Paint it Black and Norwegian Wood. What do you guys and gals think are the best songs for 12 string in this TARGET/TG program?
Thanks! :cheer:
Best 12 String Songs in TARGET
Luvin' the sound of a company jam.....
Some of the big 'strummy' songs (excuse the technical term) would sound good;
Bad Moon Rising
Proud Mary
Hey Joe
Peaceful Easy Feeling
Lyin' Eyes
Harvest (maybe)
You saw Roger McGuinn a few nights back, you must have got a few ideas there

I think that's what got the juices flowing! That guy can flat make a 12 sing! Good ideas, especially the two Eagles songs! :cheer:

I'm new here and new to the 12 string guitar seen. That's my no string 12 string there...currently getting a set up, bone nut and saddle and a neck shim or two. Looking forward to getting it back within the next week or so. I'm partial to Wish You Were Here, Hotel California is a classic and I think My Sweet Lord would sound nice with 12.

Mickey- Yes I agree with all those choices. WYWH was played on a 12 but if I do that I can't play the lead (it's hard enough to do the bends on medium strings!). That's probably a small sacrifice.
On another subject, don't be afraid to use a Tusq nut and saddle. I've used both bone and Tusq and for the price difference Tusq works great. I use bone on my Les Paul but Tusq on all my acoustics.

Hi Bear, my 12 string tells me that the following TARGET songs work really well:
Horse with No Name (what else if not that!)
Hard Day's Night
Knocking on Heaven's Door
Kodachrome
Margaritaville
Still the Same
You've got to Hide Your Love Away
....even Nights in White Satin....
Have a great company Jam!
