Well its great you see Hectors playing and talent as we do..

Here is a new lesson that will ease you into his world..A level 1 tune..but oh so pretty

It is his arrangement of a traditional piece he first heard played by Narcisso Yepes.

You will find it under the Hector Garcia menu in Target ..

I hope you enjoy it

THis is a great first lesson. It sounds really nice after playing it it for a short time. Nice choice. Thank you. One comment/request - Hector uses a couple of technical terms (rest stroke, free stroke) - which I think I understand, but it would be good to get a quick demo of how these should be done. I don't think I've heard Neil use these terms (or perhaps I haven't watched those lessons).

I'm enjoying learning this song.

Thanks

Michele

Awesome! This is such a departure from what I would normally play or choose, but I gotta say, I'm really intrigued to try it. I bought one of his albums here when Matt posted it and I'm really enjoying it. Curious what this song will sound like on a steel string, it's all I have.

I just tried it and it is very fun to play. Good introduction to classical guitar. I find though that doing it on a steel string guitar, kind of diminish the impact. If this continues to be interesting like that (a different style of guitar that needs a different guitar) I will be very tempted to get a descent nylon stringer.

Chas - since Maree (my Yamaha G50A) has such a high action, especially if you venture past about the 5th fret and doesn't look like it can be lowered easily, I'm considering purchasing a Yamaha CG151C - RRP is AU$699 or more likely a CG171C RRP $899. I'm hoping to get it for a little less. I've read that the Yamaha's are best by far in the less than US$1000 bracket.

I haven't played them yet. I especially haven't compared the spruce vs the cedar top. But, in a few week (probably - although the Boss has said whenever I'm ready), I think I'll go on a pilgrimage to my local guitar specialist shop.

If anyone else has other recommendations in a similar price bracket, I'm all ears.

Go for it. They sound so lovely and have a different character to the steel string, which is really soulful.

I'd love to know what you go for.
