Today we release two versions of the classic "still can't say goodbye"
This particular song was a lesson I wanted created to honor the Chet Atkins guitar I picked up from Tommy E, and also to honor all of the stories we had from losing our fathers early , Neil , Tommy, Chet , Matt B and myself, and dedicated to anyone who has lost a parent early..
You can catch more of this story on acoustic snapshots or on the lives how from October 2010.

I Still Can't Say Goodbye was a song that became one of Chet Atkin's signature songs shortly after he recorded it in 1988 on his C.G.P. (Certified Guitar Player) album. Shortly before he passed away, in 2001 he asked Tommy Emmanuel to continue playing the song as it was very important for people to keep hearing it. This lesson looks at both arrangements;
Chet's is a little more basic and Tommy's more ornamented and a little more complex. We rate these at a Level 6 maybe a level 5 for Chet's..
This is available to all Target members..and if you are interested in just purchasing this lesson you can also do that from the same place now..
Hope you enjoy this all
Cheers
Matt

When I was young, my Dad would say Come on Son let's go out and play
Sometimes it seems like yesterday
And I'd climb up the closet shelf When I was all by my-self
Grab his hat and fix the brim Pretending I was him
No matter how hard I try
No matter how many tears I cry
No matter how many years go by
I still can't say good-bye
He always took care of Mom and me. We all cut down a Christmas tree
He always had some time for me
Wind blows through the trees
Street lights, they still shine bright
Most things are the same
but I miss my Dad to-night
I walked by a Salvation Army store Saw a hat like my daddy wore
Tried it on when I walked in Still trying to be like him
No matter how hard I try
No matter how many years go by
No matter how many tears I cry
I still can't say good-bye
