Here is today's Target and Pay Per Lesson song..

This is one of Three songs I had Neil create as a request for me, he had not heard it before and further it was not a guitar song..but through the marvels of being Neil Hogan, he created this lesson, it is very special to me one of four I had him create, the first being Chet Atkins still can't say goodbye, 2 others to come..

Wonderful Life is a beautiful song written by Colin Vearncombe, who headed his band, Black. They were popular in the UK but never quite made it in the US. He is a very talented songwriter and singer and this song is pretty basic with a nice intro that sets the stage. Check out their videos. The main focus of this lesson is to start adding a little percussion to your accompaniment.

It is a Level 4 and available now ..

Hope you enjoy

Cheers

Matt

Here I go out to see again
the sunshine fills my hair
and dreams hang in the air
Gulls in the sky and in my blue eyes
you know it feels unfair
there's magic everywhere

Look at me standing
here on my own again
up straight in the sunshine

No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to laugh and cry
it's a wonderful, wonderful life

Sun in your eyes
the heat is in your hair
they seem to hate you
because you're there
and I need a friend
Oh, I need a friend
to make me happy
not stand here on my own

Look at me standing
here on my own again
up straight in the sunshine

No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to laugh and cry
it's a wonderful, wonderful life

I need a friend
oh, I need friend
to make me happy
not so alone.......
Look at me here
here on my own again
up straight in the sunshine

No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to laugh and cry
it's a wonderful, wonderful life

No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to run and hide
it's a wonderful, wonderful life
wonderful life, wonderful life

It's beautiful...but sort of depressing. I've been trying to stay clear of sad songs. Still it's beautiful.

Funny Shel I've been checking this tune out today as well and I completely agree with your sentiment....but I'm in the mood. It's sure beautiful. I vote for you to learn it and post it.

Sue is going to be seriously worried about me if I keep learning sad songs. Are you trying to make me cry or something?

I agree- haunting, beautiful and SAD. For me, it ranks right up there with "Bring on the Wonder" for songs most likely to choke me up.

Besides being terribly sad this song has grabbed me.

Neil mentions a You Tube video of a good acoustic version that Colin Vearncombe plays of this song. I think the attached video is probably the one he's referring to. It is useful to watch, although a little frustrating that the camera doesn't stay on the guitar.
