Hi Everyone,

Today's Target and Pay Per Lesson release is now live.

Fingerpicking 101 - This is our comprehensive primer on the techniques and concepts you need to get comfortable in the world of Fingerstyle Guitar. You only need to know a few basic, open chords to jump in. The lesson starts with proper hand position and how to strike the strings, takes you through arpeggio exercises and alternating bass styles, then completely debunks the myth that you need to master 1001 patterns. This is done by breaking out and explaining the components that go into creating fingerpicking accompaniments, rather than memorizing hundreds of unrelated pieces of information. Fingerpicking 101 will take the beginning student to the point where they will be ready to tackle hundreds of their favorite songs, many of which would seem out of reach before.

Enjoy this Level 2 Lesson.

Thanks for this excellent finger picking lesson
It answers questions that I didn't know how to ask!!

For sure it's going into my daily practice.

I'm not sure where you get the 101 from in Finger Picking 101.
I don't think you mentioned anywhere where the 101 comes from.

So I have settled for the Five Digits of the hand, four fingers and thumb.

101 = 5 in binary!

:laugh:
Very original thinking! Actually this is a North American thing having to do with the numbering of collegiate courses. 101 is usually the most basic level of a course. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Course_number

Scott has the code. This is the entry level Fingerpicking Course, although it takes you very far down the road. Not sure yet whether the next Course is 102 or 201, but after 101 you are right in the thick of Target Fingerpicking songs. These are the Level 4-6 tunes.

Enjoy,

Neil
