Hi Everyone,

Today's Target members only lesson is a new Fly On The Wall.

I never know where Ed’s lessons will take us and in this lesson we got on a jazz tangent when he brought up Dave Brubeck’s classic Take Five. We talked a bit about jazz in general and then went into some of the specifics regarding the chord progression and accompaniment styles, specifically related to playing in 5/4 time.

Enjoy!

As for the tuning.... I missed something there too.....
At the beginning of the lesson I think they were in another dropped tuning.... not sure.
Then tuned up to Standard tuning from what I could hear.

Ed and Neil ....Thanks for sharing.

At the beginning of the lesson I think they were in another dropped tuning before this discussion.

Then tuned up to Standard tuning from what I could hear.

Neil retuned and then finger a standard Dm7 at the 5th fret.... from what I could see.

Haha, oh my gosh, my absolute favorite 5/4 song 'Everything's alright', it immediately came to my mind when seeing this lesson, and you actually get to that one at the very end, haha, how cool! :P

As a kid I tried to drum along with that song, I actually pulled it off, but I had nó idea why the rhythm was 'different'/'funny' :silly: haha  , but still very much fun to play and added to my overall rhythmic feel (is that correct english?!)! :cheer:

Thanks for the lesson, sometimes I get into a 'Jazz-mode', I should get back to it, it's really cool music to play!

cheers

Vanessa
