Hi Everyone,

Today's Target members only lesson is a new Fly On The Wall.

Matt mentioned that he would love to play Lake Of Fire by Nirvana. With a little time It seemed like a good opportunity to talk about power chords and work on his listening skills. After a few minutes he had enough info to play the opening section and was sent on his way with some new knowledge and skills.

Enjoy!

I've been trying to work out what the count is here. I know it's 4/4 but......
Although I can play each phrase (and working on them together as a whole) I'm not sure what the count is from chord to chord
in the progression.

Any Help?
:S

Edit

I'm watching phrase 2 Right Hand.... on beat 3 Neil sorta does a quick (partial) up down picking action.
Not quite sure about that.

Yep, still not sure how to count each beat here.
The Phase two slide is a bit of a hit and miss for me, sometimes I get the rhythm correct and other times
it just doesn't sound right on the last note of the slide, which it looks like Neil's playing an up stroke.

This is a cool tune, I'm going to stick with this one. I found it impossible at first but it's coming on, tough on the left wrist.
It would be nice to understand the count for each beat though....

Phrase 2 - The slide..... Sorry to go on..... I've not got this slide thing quite right !

I'm not sure how you get the last two notes so close together..... da da .

I arrive a the last note a tad late.

Hello Neil

I know it's been said again and again.... just strum it but......

I can play the sequence fine though would like to refine the strum a little as when I listen to your strum
in Phrase 1 .... it sounds Da Da (clearly) then scratchy scratchy .... when I play it all notes sound clear but the scratchy sound
adds to the over all strum. I'm not sure if that as sort of muted up down but a can't replicate it.....
Listen to the attached wave file and you'll hear what I mean.... for me it adds texture to the strum. and would be nice to replicate.

:S :S

Thanks

Dermot

I'm not finding it so tough on the wrist now as I've been working on it all weekend.
It's helped a a lot.
