Hi Everyone,

Today's Target and Pay Per Lesson release is now live.

The Monkees had the good fortune to get songs from great songwriters. Daydream Believer was written by John Stewart, who had spent the previous years with The Kingston Trio.

The Monkees’ arrangement was quite different, even as far as the chord progression, but really captured, and even amplified the ‘feel good’ nature of the song.

Their version is in the key of G and the main accompaniment was done on keyboards. This lesson is done in G but uses Dropped D Tuning to keep the relationship of the bass notes faithful.

Enjoy this level 4 lesson!

Funny, I thought going in that this would make a great instrumental. I might try to work out at least the chorus on my own -- it seems like I *should* be able to do that.

Walt,

This makes a great instrumental. Maybe I'll tackle it on the News tomorrow.

One of my favorite aspects of this site is learning the background of the songs when a lesson is created. I enjoyed watching the John Stewart interview about writing this song.

I can remember seeing The Monkees doing this song on their television show when I was just a kid. Davie Jones danced that dance and my sister thought he was really a cool cat :)

Thanks for the lesson! I'll put it on the list....

Neil

From what I've watched of the lesson so far, it's great, thanks.
I second what Bart said. I too enjoy all the song info, that comes with the lessons.

So it's Day Dream Believer and The Clap ( in slow-mo) on the news ?
