Hi Everyone,

Today's Target and Pay Per Lesson release is now live.

Running On Empty, written and performed by American singer-songwriter, Jackson Browne, is the opening track of his 5th album with the same name and became one of his signature songs.

In the lesson we take a look at the acoustic version, based on his performances at ‘Later With Jools’ and the ‘Philadelphia Folk Festival’.

Even though the song features only four chords in the key of G, using the I IV V and VI, it does consist of a couple of different chord shapes. He also uses an alternate tuning, CGDGBD. The lesson covers the syncopated chord changes, a bas srun and a few little riffs to dress up the playing.

Enjoy this level 3 lesson!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :) :) B) B)

This looks awesome. I have a simple campfire version in standard tuning, but it doesn't sound anywhere near as nice as this. Thanks so much for doing this one Ness!

I am a huge fan of JB, and also love "The Road" from this same album.

Now what do you know, The Road, my other favorite track of the album! ;)

Thanks so much MJ, really hope you'll enjoy the lesson! :)

TGNessa,

How is it that you manage to be SO damn cool???? :) My hero.

I watched your preview this morning before racing out of the house. I've been singing this song ever since. Too cool!

Saturday has become my absolute favourite part of the week, not just because I'm not at work, well and truely because that's when your lessons generally come out.

This is just another example of you inspiring me to learn something new. It's a really cool song.

Thanks for motivating me to hit the strings. Oh my... Marshmallow syndrome has kicked in again. Luckily I have some time off coming up and I'll be able to actually finish some songs properly rather than just being lured into another cool Nessa-taught song.

Thanks sweet woman. You're the bees-knees.

Shel

Wow Vanessa

You're such a good musician. You make it all look easy, even though I know how much effort and time it takes to get as accomplished as you are. I love that song, I want to learn it. I'll go watch your lesson. thank you

I cannot tell you how many times I played my 8 track, then cassette of the J.B. Running On Empty album when I was a young driver. This is crazy Vanessa that you have put this song together as a lesson! Like MJ mentioned, I too have played this as a campfire song but now watching you, I realize how much better it will sound when played in this special tuning.

It is now on my list of songs to learn over.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Well worth the price of admission!!!
