Hi Everyone,

Today's Target and Pay Per Lesson release is now live.

Dreamin’ Man is from Neil Young’s 1992 album Harvest Moon and was recently suggested on our Recommend A Lesson page. It is done in Double Dropped D Tuning and uses very easy chords and shapes.

Many of the chords have unusual names because of the tuning but the lesson really focuses on strumming through the progression and adding the short instrumental fill that follows the chorus.

Enjoy this level 3 lesson!

Neil:

Thanks for this one. ;) I really enjoy all of the Neil Young tunes. We are getting such an awesome collection.

My stab at the extra credit would be: F6sus2add#11

That four string barre in Double Drop D is used so much by him. I have been revisiting several of his songs over the years. "Ride My Llama", "War of Man" and "Going Back" just to name a few. They all have that same kind of thing going on. I have not been able to completely work them out, but I'll get em' someday... ;)

Thanks again for another great lesson.

Jason

Uhm.......B is nót the 4th (or 11th) of the F-major scale. Actually, that's the thing with that scale in the first place, all white keys, except one. That one is flatted, guess which one! ;) . (sorry for dragging the piano into this, but it does make the picture quite clear.)

Vanessa

F Major Scale: F, G, A, B♭, C, D, and E

I see what you mean.... Key of F ..... Bb.

Bb to B = half step higher.... so is it Add 11.5

Edit
F6 Sus2 (Add 11 Augmented)

Dermot: I am not positive, but I think you can just call it #11 like I did above. Vanessa and Neil are far better to actually name the chords though... I am only guessing based on scale degrees and the hints Neil gave. ;)

Very smooth lesson, Neil.

Trying this tune is like taking a dip in a warm lake ... not too much effort, instant gratification :)
