Hi Everyone,

Today's Target and Pay Per Lesson release is now live.

Simple Twist Of Fate is a very easy Dylan song from his 1975 album Blood On The Tracks. He plays it in Open E Tuning and most of the chords just use 2 or 3 fingers. The strumming consists of light bass notes hit on beats 1 and 3, with steady downs and ups on the higher strings on the other beats. We look at the way Bob played it, as well as a slightly more difficult way in Standard Tuning.

Enjoy this level 3 lesson!

Thx for a great Bob lesson Neil. I love the fact that Dylan will record one of his very best albums using an open tuning for pretty much every song (NY Sessions anyway - i think the 5 songs redone a few months later used standard tunings) and then with the exception of a few covers he doesn't use that tuning ever again.

Thx also for the advice on using capo at 2nd fret for Open E tuning, rather than tuning strings up. I've been doing that for years but feeling a wimp for doing it. I'm pleased to see that a real guitarist thinks it is ok too.

This is one of my favorites too.

I've been playing it with Capo 2 and these chords:
C-Cmaj7-C7-F-Fm
C-F-G
C-G-C

I will have to try it in open E and the Standard tuning shown here.

Thanks!

Dylan sounds majorly depressed !
He sure needs help.
:(

Oh Joey.....
I love his studio music but did not enjoy his concert the year I saw him in Glasgow.
He just didn't want to be there.

I liked his Gospel music.
I don't see the DownUnder mob helping out with that !
God Gave Names To All The Animals.
Slow Train
Etc.....
