Hi Everyone!

Today's Target and Pay Per Lesson release is now live.

Soft Cell are an English synthpop duo who came to prominence in the early 1980’s, consisting of vocalist Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball.

Tainted Love was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1965, but it never made in to the charts. Soft Cell covered the song with a very different arrangement and in a lower key, making it a huge huge hit in many countries.

The lesson takes a look at how to establish the main bass part, while playing the chords. It involves dampening the strings and focused strumming, with a swing feel, to create a percussive effect while keeping the bass part going.

The progression is very easy and contains only five chords in the key of Em, with one chord out of the key. The guitar is capoed on the 3rd fret to match the absolute key of Gm.

Enjoy this level 3 lesson!

Oh....My....Gosh!!!! The things you can do with a single acoustic guitar and your fantastic voice. :)

Who needs keyboards, drums, a bass, other guitars.... Well who needs a band when you've got Ness to capture all the important things on her trusty Tanglewood. :)

Bloody marvellous!

Well this takes me straight back to mid high school. :) SO eighties. I'm guessing it was on Corina's mixed tape. :)

This is SO cool.

And I LOVE your playthrough Ness.

LOVE your work TGNessa. You're the coolest!

Shel

Wow, such a fantastic song choice, so much fun , gotta be one for an IGC playthrough... many thx Ness.

I remember a rewrite from the corporate saltmines which we called 'Tainted Job' - unfortunatley the new lyrics are lost in time.

Never thought of this as an acoustic guitar song, but you proved me wrong. Really neat lesson Vanessa. Good job.

I freaking love this song and always have! Thanks so much, Ness, for turning it into a lesson. I can't wait to take it to an open mic.

By the way, one of the things I appreciate about this lesson is that you not only teach the song, you cover the performance of it, too. That's always helpful.
