Hi Everyone!

We have a new Target Exclusive release, Beginner Bossa Nova by Max Rich.

The road to playing bossa nova starts with a few simplistic rhythm patterns and some common jazz chord shapes.

Using a few sample progressions and an excerpt from Baden Powell’s “Swimming Pool Bossa” you’ll learn the patterns, chords and rhythms that will make you sound like a bossa nova maestro!

Enjoy!

This looks like a lot of fun. I have been hoping for this type of music on the site for quite some time. I had a quick look at the lessons and Max seems to like that music a lot transmitting the groove.

I hope there will be many Bossa Nova lessons

Break out the nylon strings. Cool!

The preview is informative all by itself.

I'll also be getting into this.

Thanks Max.

Max, I am noodling on the lesson and I am curious as to why the choice of chord shape is rarely a full bar but instead fingering the individual strings or the use of short bars. I have noticed that as well in other bossa nova songs i saw on youtube. Is it how jazz chords are normally used? because it is easier for the progression? I find the rhythm realtively easy to adapt but the chord shapes are quite challenging as they are quite different than the regular chords we are used to see

Thanks

Marc

This really sounds cool. I'd like to be able to learn this style, but unfortunately I was told that I couldn't add it to the Target Lite plan I'm on. This is frustrating, since I've been a member for several years now and I'm actually running out of other songs I'd like to learn. I don't understand why I can't get this as part of the songs I pay for each month.

It may be that theres an error because it's quite a new lesson.

Drop support a message, I'm sure they will sort it out for you.
