We have a new Target members exclusive lesson for today, Dead Flowers with Ed.

Ed has always been a big fan of Townes Van Zandt and this week he came in working on Townes’ cover of Dead Flowers, by The Rolling Stones.

Townes plays it in the Key of C, and uses a basic Travis style accompaniment with just a few embellishments.

We went over some key notes in each of the chords and also listened to the Stones’ version, in the Key of D. We paid particular attention to different resolutions at the end of phrases.

I love the Townes version of Dead Flowers. I discovered his version after re-watching "The Big Lebrowski" a year ago (have seen the movie many times but first time since starting the guitar). Would love a full lesson with tab for this song. In fact, I may have requested the song here on Totally Guitars but can't seem to it.
