Hi everyone,
Today's Target and Pay Per Lesson release is now live, Orchard Road by Leo Sayer.
Orchard Road is a beautiful ballad recorded by singer-songwriter Leo Sayer for his 10th studio album
‘Have You Ever Been In Love’, released in 1983.
It features a relatively easy progression in the key of C, but does have a few sudden key changes, to
Eb in the chorus and A in the bridge.
The challenges lie mostly within incorporating the melody in the intro, picking out the bass notes when
playing in the key of C, and being able to play barre chords in the key of Eb.
Last but not least are the vocals, which are too high for the average male voice. For that I’ve added a
segment showing how to play the song in the key of G. From there, if necessary, one could capo it up.
Enjoy this level 5 song!

TGNessa,
WOW! .... I jumped straight to the playthrough. And GOSH you've delivered another heartbreakingly gorgeous performance, complete with vocal gymnastics. Gosh you sound good and ... you sure do justice to this vocally challenging song. You make it look so easy to play too.
I really like the descending bass lines and the Eb section sounds really interesting.
... gorgeous

Thanks Ness!
Thanks for always going the extra mile. It is so nice to have a teacher who considers all of her students, regardless of vocal range, in her lessons. I'm sure we with larger (male) vocal chords are appreciative. You know I am.

That's a really nice song Ness, beautifully done again! Did not know that one before... works really well on guitar! Great that you show how to do it in a lower register.

Michele: Vocal gymnastics, haha, good one! I'm really glad you think I pulled it off, it wasn't easy as in recording it, which is always, as you know, not so easy in the first place. And the song surely has it's challenges, both vocally as well as playing wise. But it's súch a gorgeous song! Didn't know if it would work on guitar either, but then again as I said in the preview, 'whatever, i just want to play the song!' Thanks my sweet friend. You always make me smile!
Tom: It turns out he has quite a few albums Tom, although i wouldn't know any of it, except for 'When I Need You', which is btw a very nice song a well.
Bill: Many thanks for noticing Bill, I sure appreciate that too. I do try to consider such aspects. Are you able to sing it in the key of G? In any way, thanks again sweet man! xo
Anton: Ah you do know a few Leo Sayer songs, cool! Thanks for dropping in Anton, glad you like the addition of this one.
Corina: Many thanks honey! Big hugs to you too!
Chris: Hey Chris, so good to hear that it works well on guitar! I think so too, just wasn't sure how others would feel. Eventually I didn't care enough about that and recorded it anyway. I hope you'll try it out in a lower register.
Many thanks boys and girls, TGNess B)

That is simply beautiful. I used to do "When I Need You" as a duet with my dad and this lesson is on my MUST TRY list. It may take me a while to be able to do your gorgeous rendition justice but I shall certainly try.
Thank you for recording this!
