Today's Target and Pay Per Lesson release is now live, Bad Day by Daniel Powter.



Bad Day is a pop song by Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Powter and taken from his self-titled
debut studio album (2005).


The arrangement as taught in this lesson is entirely based on unplugged performances by Daniel
and his guitar player.


It covers the chords and progression in the key of C and takes a quick look at the strumming, which
involves a bit of swing feel and palm muting.


The arrangement also features a few chords out of the key, including barre chords and a few inversions.
Those make the song more challenging to play than it seems at first sight.


For those who’d like to sing the song higher, we take a look at how to play it in the key of D as well.
The chords for this key have similar challenges.

Cool song. I really like the descending outro. That bridge though. It does look tricky.

The song's got a great groove to it. Cool choice.

Hey Shel, as always, great to hear from you!

You're right, the bridge, the outro too actually, is tricky. And there is certainly a groove in it too. Might be easy enough to some, but maybe hard for others.

I was actually recovering from a nasty flu, which had wrecked my vocal cords :S , so I'm réally happy that it came across somewhat okay, I sure did my best.

I can imagine Mark. The song seems somewhat upbeat, but the lyrics ain't really. It's pretty sad and I guess we can all relate one way or the other.

I like 'sad' songs though, sometimes they tell the story better than we do and it's nice that music is able to express whatever we're feeling.
