Hi everyone,

We have a new Fly on the Wall lesson, exclusively for TARGET members, Nerves with Sandy.

Sandy has always had a tough time playing on stage and managing nerves. I thought we might recreate a stressful
situation by playing for the camera and asked her to play Adele’s arrangement of Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love.
I was thinking she might get just as nervous for the camera as on stage.

She actually got through it better than she just had a few minutes before, including a short solo. We then talked about
some things that might help people relax when performing.

Enjoy this new lesson!

Hi Sandy, that was really great! :)
Your guitar playing was very impressive and the singing was just great!
You should take a lot of confidence from that performance. :)

Maybe you should sit and record yourself at home singing and playing guitar, to get used to that sort of ‘live under the spotlight feeling.’

Sandy you’re my hero. I really enjoyed that. As you know I also get paralyzed with nerves, especially when playing in front of people. So I know how excruciating it is. And you took those nerves and ran with it. It sounded great and really pulled on my heart strings.

I really need to get back to learning this song. Thanks for the inspiration.

Neil thanks for the reminders. Good fly on the wall.

So, good luck at your upcoming concert! Take a deep breath and nail knock 'em dead....

Proud of you Sandy!

Thank you Bill for the 2 thumbs up. That’s a great compliment

Bob thank you. Jim’s performance workshop is once a month. He’s very supportive so that is a safe place to work on relaxation techniques, even though I do still get some performance anxiety

Michele you are always so loving and supportive. You kept your composure so well at IGC. I didn’t notice that you were having a little performance anxiety too even though I did hear you mention it a couple of times. It wasn’t at all obvious.

Bart. I think you have busked this song on TG before. I would love to see your video

Tom. You are always the sweetest and most complimentary friend. Thank you for being you.

Great discussion Sandy and a wonderful performance. I get nerves too, mostly leading up to the performance rather than during the performance, but I've concluded that the trick is not to try to get rid of the nerves, but to accept that they happen and not to let them distract, detract or derail the performance.

Looking forward to seeing you again at IGC.
