Hi Everyone,

We have one more Target and Pay Per Lesson release for you today, Dig A Pony by The Beatles.

This Beatles song starts with a pretty awesome pentatonic lick that will help you work on your stretching in your fretting
hand, while simultaneously keeping your rhythm on point.

In ¾ time signature it requires a different feel than a standard 4/4 song (very common to the Beatles).

Following that intro riff come a series of chords using a similar rhythmic pattern that are overdubbed by with some killer
country-blues style licks to help keep the momentum moving.

It winds it’s way into the guitar solo which is chock full of great 60s style blues licks with a rapid and accelerated ending to
help cap it all off.

All in all, if you’re looking for a Beatles song with versatility and some licks that will challenge you, then this is your song!

Enjoy this level 5 lesson!

Dig a Pony is a song by The Beatles (composed by John Lennon) first recorded in 1969. It's sometimes remembered by its rawness and the famous (or should we say infamous ?) mistakes. The 2 main mistakes committed in the original recording were "corrected" digitally and can't be heard in recent versions of the song. I made this video to compare these recent versions to the old/original ones, in which both mistakes are audible (to know which are the mistakes, watch the video with annotations ON). The first half of this video is a comparison of short bits of 4 different versions of it. The first one is the Savile Row edited version, the one that made it to Anthology 3, recorded on 22 January 1969 at Apple Studios. The second is the actual Rooftop Concert recording with no editings whatsoever, just the raw song. The third is the Let It Be Naked version, which is the Rooftop concert version, recorded on 30 Januray 1969, with minor editings (they cut the false start and the dialogues at the end). The fourth and last is the most famous version, released in 1970 on the album Let It Be, but this is the remastered version from 2009 Stereo Remasters.
