Hi Everyone,
Our newest TARGET and Pay Per Lesson release is on Everybody Hurts by REM!
Everybody Hurts is a song by American rock band R.E.M. It appears on their 1992 album
‘Automatic for the People’ and was released as a single in 1993.
It features a flatpicking arrangement in the key of D, with a few chords out of the key,
which appear in the bridge.
The lesson takes a look at the chords, the picking and strumming in 6/8, and in particular
how to transition smoothly from one chord to the next.
It’s up to the student to use a pick or fingers to play through the song. Anyone still working
on their flatpicking skills are certainly encouraged to use one.
Enjoy this level 4 lesson!

TGNess,
This is one of those songs that grabs my attention every time I hear it. It’s a beautiful and genuinely heartfelt song. And your play-through was just gorgeous... perfectly nuanced and immensely moving ... nothing new there I guess. I loved the way you incorporated both vocal lines too.
Well my flat picking sucks. So that’s an extra reason to learn this.
Thanks teach. Nice choice.
Love

Willem: Another coincedence Willem. I was actually working on the song when i saw you posting it on facebook. I recall it's not the first that that has happened, spooky!!! In any way, you're very welcome!!
Dermot: Happy songs are overrated! Well admittedly this is quite a 'depressive/sad' song. There is some hope in there, but it still sounds....well sad :S . Gorgeous too btw. The picking is really nice and people recognize it immediately. Students love to work on it because of that. Many thanks for the cartoon! :cheer:
Michele: Heeeeey Shel, i've missed you around here!! So nice to see you dropping in again, and again covering me with such awesome compliments, loved to read it. I'd say, grab your pick and get started! Thanks so much my friend!
Mark: Such a kind comment Mark , much appreciated for sure!! Big hug!
