Hi Everyone,

We have a brand new lesson available!

When Susannah Cries by Espen Lind.

Espen Lind is a Norwegian singer-songwriter, multi instrumentalist and record producer. His commercial breakthrough came in 1997 with the ballad ‘When Susannah Cries’, which was a big hit in several European and Latin American countries.

We take a look at how Espen plays it on guitar, which he does in the key of G.

The chords are relatively easy, as well as the strumming and progression. A few (barre)-chords later in the song might be a little more challenging to some guitar players, even though there are a few ways to fret them in an easier way.

TGNess,

Thanks for introducing me to this song. I hadn’t heard it before. Under a rock, not just down under. :)

You sound great and I can see why you picked this song as a lesson.

I have to admit though while listening I kept thinking “poor Susannah...”. Sounds tough and like she had some good reasons to cry.

Thanks for expanding my music horizons.

:D Well, i can imagine, it's a Euro-centric song for sure. And yes, i would certainly agree with the 'poor Susannah'. :? ....the lyrics are weird, and i can't relate actually. But i do love the melody, and it fits me too I think, as in singing and playing it. I try to not think 'what an asshole' at the same time.

Many thanks Shel! xo

Great to see you in action again.
I liked your Lesson Linger.
I'd never considered open 16th note strums when changing chord !
Guitar doesn't come easy to me but then you know that already
Any help is appreciated.

This guitar lesson looks great too by spooky Shania Twain ( I won't explain that ).
