The Water Is Wide is a traditional Scottish folk song and has been covered by numerous artists, too many to mention.
This lesson teaches how it was arranged by Eva Cassidy, who is known for her interpretations of jazz, folk, and blues music.
Her version features a lovely fingerstyle arrangement in the key of D, which accompanies her beautiful vocals just perfectly.
We break down the many fingerings and shapes for the chords, and of course the fingerpicking. The latter is not written in stone and it is not necessarily recommended to play it the same way twice.
