I remember I got in trouble in junior high school, and my mom bought me a Sears Silvertone guitar to keep me busy. The first song I learned to play on it was Peter, Paul & Mary's "Jesus met the woman at the well," an incredibly simple tune. It was the perfect song for a little Jewish kid to learn.

My first attempt at the guitar was the boogie riff to "Green Onions", It was very simple but gave me a lot of bang for the buck. "With a Little Help From My Friends" was my first complete song.

I remember the "Big Three" I learned first, House of the Rising Sun, Don't Play With Fire (Stones) and Gloria (Them). As Tears Go By was next!
