It's official, all of my songs are sad or weepy. I need help finding some happy, uplifting songs to learn. I'm especially looking for songs that make you and other people break out singing.

I've been feeling a bit crappy lately and the songs I've learned or am learning just don't help in raising my spirits. So far the one that comes closest is "Here Comes the Sun" and it's even a bit sad, or "Puff the Magic Dragon" and it's the same.

I've scanned the TG song library and there's only 1 song (that I've noticed), which fits the bill and I'm already learning that. I'm currently learning a couple of Jason Mraz love songs, but Sue reckons I'll be balling (crying) once I start singing those too because they're so mushy (lovie dovie); ('Lucky' and 'I'm Yours')

So my question to you all is this, "What are yoru favourite happy songs?" I'm looking for songs that just fill you with joy and cheer you up no matter what, preferably not mushy ones.

If there are any TG ones that you think I've missed I'd love to hear those too.

Thanks in advance.

Michele - on a mission to learn cheery songs.

Good question 'Shel!
WIllem, you'll have Michele in tears in 10 seconds flat with that one (you are my sunshine) :-).

I sometimes need to pick up some energy from music I like so I turn to some of these....

Shiny Happy People - REM ... I must have been writing same time as Tony!
Maria - Blondie
Dreaming - Blondie
The Hippy Hippy Shake - Swinging Blue jeans
Fun, Fun Fun - Beach Boys
Ventura Highway - America
On The Border - Al Stewart
Trespasser - Al Stewart
Hard Day's Night - Beatles
Human Touch - Bruce Springsteen
Simple Game - Moody Blues
All Summer Long - Chris Rea
Friday I'm in Love - The Cure
and
Something's Always Wrong - Toad The Wet Sprocket:

Unfortunately I'm absolutely no help here. I tend to like slow and miserable songs.

Hardly a happy song but I find "Yesterday" at least gets people singing along.
This at least works with my sisters (who sing along in deliberately out of tune and high pitched voices) and drunk people (who will probably sing along to anything anyway)

How about
katrina and the waves - walking on sunshine

Can't get much happier than that - and only 4 chords I think

There are some great suggestions here. And 'Walking on Sunshine" is pure genius.

Thanks guys.

Keep them coming.
