I've noticed that many lessons include PDFs of tabs and notation along with GuitarPro files. Do the PDFs and the GuitarPro files contain the same information? I downloaded a trial version of GuitarPro 6 to find out for myself, but the trial version won't allow me to open files not included with the trial version.

Yep, they do contain the same info!

They are generally the same. I can't think of any that are not as I use the GuitarPro file to create the pdf.
