Opening Chord for Hard Days Night

I was messing around with the opening chord for Hard Days Night that Neil so graciously provided.
I found that is seemed to sound better,or perhaps I should say more like the original (at least to my ears) if I strumed up rather than down on the chord.

I did some experimenting with friends by only play that chord(on a down stroke) and ask which song is that and they know it,,then i ask(and doing a upstroke) or is it this,,then they got very confused,,for me it is a up..i think.
