Take a look in the Beginner's Genius Series - specifically Part 9 - Right Hand Position.

Hi Gang,
I am working on a more detailed intro to fingerpicking right now. Much of it has been covered here already, but it is a bit scattered. In the meantime, the best place to start is with the Quick Tip linked in the previous post and the Target Lesson on House Of The Rising Sun, possibly going with Blackbird next.

Lots of great fingerpicking lessons for individual songs here! In addition to the ones Neil mentioned, I'd also recommend checking out Dust in the Wind, Landslide, Freight Train or What Child is This? Those are all songs i used to learn how to fingerpick.

Another great lesson to check is Hector Garcia's Giuliani Exercises.

Thanks all
I looked at part 9. Been working a lot of hours lately, but did have a little time to practice. One of my big problems was the angle of my wrist. Part 9 corrected that, but the position still feels a little weird.
I did work a little on House of The Rising Sun. Been playing it for years with a pick so the left hand was no problem.
Looking at What Child is This lesson is what started me on asking about finger picking.
I play a little 5 string and was always taught to anchor my pinky finger on the head of the banjo to stabilize your right hand. I have that habit to break. I will move my questions to the General Theory Forum.
