...Guitar Pro - what is it - are these files any different from the PDF

HI

i noticed that some of the TAB is Guitar Pro 5 or 6
are these tabs any different from the PDFs?
if so - do i have to purchase it to view these files?

The PDF's that you see were exported from Guitar Pro, and look the same. The .gp5 or .gpx files are meant to be opened in The Guitar Pro program itself. The program will play the file so you can get an idea of the sound of things. It can be very useful for the tempo and to hear the timing of tricky parts. It also allows you to loop specific sections when you are having trouble. It is not a NECESSARY program, but it is helpful. There is also a program out there called Tuxedo that will read and play the .gp5 files.
