This isn't so much about "trouble" with a song, but I wasn't sure where else to park this request. Has anyone diagrammed the chords that Vanessa shows in Part 3 of the lesson on "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol? I'm in the process of watching that video now, pausing it to write down the fingering as she demonstrates each chord (those start out somewhere around the tenth fret, a place I rarely go), and hoping to get it all noted correctly.
I just thought I'd ask if someone already had those written down somewhere. I'm one of those people who needs the little pictures of chords until I get them memorized. (And I have a memory span about as long as a sneeze. )
Thanks for any assistance.

Hi Doug, great to hear you're working on this song, such a beautiful one it is!
I wouldn't have diagrams, but in short it would be:
x x x 9 10 x
x x x 9 9 x
x x x 11 10 x
I hope that makes sense and helps you out enough.

That's the stuff I was looking for. Thanks!
It's a nice song, and the lesson is very helpful.
Now to work on that "focused strumming."

That lesson will keep me practicing ("off the streets, and out of mischief") for awhile. I might try some reverb on the main guitar part, and maybe also do some layering with my looper pedal. Maybe add in some vocal harmony, too.
I'm listening to the Play Through (Part 5) now. Nice performance! B)
Yup, I was able to get most of the info I needed from the closeups, but wanted to make sure I wasn't putting an 'O' anyplace where the string should be an 'X'. Ness' post above confirmed it. Thanks for the "still pics" of the chord shapes. That looks like a great lesson.

^^^ Good one!
I think it was Jerry Seinfeld who asked "Why does a dog chase cars? What's he going to if he catches one, drag it home and bury it in the driveway?"
But according to the Wikipedia article about the song, the title and the line about "Let's waste time chasing cars" is from a remark Gary Lightbody's father made when Gary was infatuated with a girl: "You're like a dog chasing a car. You'll never catch it and you just wouldn't know what to do with it if you did."
I just got home from an open mic. I didn't play, but it was a benefit for the March of Dimes, so I went to help support that. Maybe for next month's OM, I'll be able to play "Chasing Cars" and some other newly-learned song.
Time to practice.

Good to hear it confirmed things for you Doug!
Focussed strumming, keep in mind, small strokes. Try to not watch the right hand, (maybe a bit at first), instead listen carefully to what you're hitting and adjust accordingly.
Can't help to say that I would love to see your rendition! Also in between, don't hesitate to show us how you're working on it, a work in progress video. Getting advice now is better than later. Would be awesome if you could perform it at your open mic! Keep me updated if you will.

Ps. And thanks for the Play Through comment!
