That is the best explanation I can think of. I hope it makes sense.

Take note on occasions you get exceptions to this Neil Young does it e.g Needle and The Damage Done, it ends with an upstroke on Gm/Bb and lets it ring, but it makes sense in this song as it is Neils way of saying this is not the end of people wasting life.

There are always exceptions, but as a general rule, you can work with what I posted.

O.K.

I came up with this last night. Please bear in mind, that I am not great at picking out altered or extended chords sometimes, so if you see something that should be a 7, or a sus, feel free to let me know.

Verse:

iv / I / IV / I
iv / I / IV / I

Pre-Chorus:

ii / I
ii / I

Chorus

I / ii / IV / I

Post-Chorus

ii / I
ii / I

Well, let me have it.....

This is probably very basic stuff for most of you, but I really struggle with it and want to get better. Even though it is difficult sometimes, I had a great time last night sitting with the guitar and figuring it out.

Thanks again guys!

It looks ok. I'll have to play it to find out what it sounds like.

Thanks Andy. I appreciate your time. There is also one part in there where the lyrics go:

I can still the trains out my window
From Hobart Street to here in Nashville
I can still smell the Pomegranites grow...

I don't remember If I have that covered in the progression.....

I think its fine. The II/I mix you have is a bit different. Maybe if I heard the strumming pattern for it.

That is the part where it goes:

Here we go, there's nothing left to choose
Here we go, there's nothing left to lose

When I tried the chords, the F#min to the E sounded the closest.

I'll look at it again though.

Thanks!

:)
