minor scale chords

guys,

are the chords of the A minor scale just the same as the chords in the C Major scale?

Carpet, you've stumbled across what is referred to as the relative major and minor. You are correct. There is probably more that you should know about this concept, but initially, yes you are correct.
Every key has it's major or minor cousin. These keys share the same key signature but have different root/tonic notes.

cheers D-dog. i think i understand the whole modal system now. A major scale is like a tree with all these different branches (modes) that are each, in turn, scales. Can't think of the right analogy, but I think I can see it all now.
