I had a look at Neils lesson after watching Jacobs lesson.
I've been trying to work out the the connection to the key of Ab Major (Ab and Eb chords)
I've looked at the all the keys discussed......... Keys of C, F and G and their relative minors and all the chords in each key.
Looking at the chorus where Ab and Eb are used and also the chords before and after them
is the connection the F which is chord 6 in the key of Ab Major and the tonic of F Major?
But I can't make sense of that either because none of the keys have E major chord.
Any suggestions out there?

Yes it is.
To be honest, I think trying to find a connection somewhere for this choice of chords in the chorus is like finding the elusive Easter egg, you know, the one egg that never actually gets found????
If there is a connection, I certainly would like to understand it better.
Maybe its just a matter of "it sounds cool".......

nod toward the punk sound'.
Hi Dermot, this is a quote from the notes in the TG lesson. Is this any help?

Edit: Neil talks a little about it in the 'lets talk theory section' of the same TG lesson.

As you'll see in the previous posts, I'm aware of the Key of Ab
Neil doesn't go into any detail regarding the key of Ab connection in the lesson.
He does appear to leave the subject open for another day.
